There’s no secret, being in good health is closely related to being fit. When we start to add pounds after pounds to our body weight, problems won’t wait too much before they appear. Joints troubles, back pains, high blood pressure, are only a few of the secondary results of becoming overweight.
Like in many other areas, in obesity and weight related issues it’s much easier to prevent than to treat. Obese people know that best, as many times the only way they can lose weight is through lap band or bariatric surgery. So, we have to stay alert and take measures if we notice that we start losing control of our weight. For instance, if several years in a row we have to change our clothes size year after year, it’s enough to become concerned and do something for our health.
What to do when we notice we accumulate fat?
Change your habits. If you used to eat at midnight, stop it. Eat your last meal at eight o’clock in the evening, and if you still feel hunger, drink some tea (without sugar, otherwise it’s not going to work). Try to go to bed earlier, in order to prevent the midnight hunger. If you don’t exercise at all, start doing some fitness routines each morning. Ten to 15 minutes should be fine for the beginning, then you can gradually increase the interval. If you used to take the elevator to climb the stairs, don’t. Take long walks at least once a day when weather is nice. You could even buy a pedometer and track your progress. It’s fun, you’ll see.
Don’t expect overnight results. Do all the above mentioned things for tewo-three months, then weigh yourself. You’ll be surprised with your accomplishment.

Many overweight people think that non-scientific dieting is the way to go when wanting to lose some weight.
There’s no wonder that so many of them complain about the yo-yo effect of their diets. When they finish keeping the fad diet, they come back to their previous eating habits, therefore weight accumulates back again, even more than when they first started the diet. In time, these weight fluctuations have an effect on the fat-muscle ratio: there’s more and more fat, detrimental to the muscular mass. This is why you may end up with the same weight but looking fatter. Fat is very light, so one pound of fat looks much bigger in volume than one pound of muscles.
Each time you go for a restrictive diet, hoping to get fit for some important event in your life, but then return to your bad eating habits, you just harm yourself. Why wouldn’t you try to get long-term results and stay fit for your whole life, rather than struggling to fit into your favorite dress for one night?
Forget non-scientifical fad diets and go schedule a consultation with a nutritionist. Health is just too valuable to waste it for the sake of fitting inside a dress every now and then.
